Gun Maintenance

Regular gun maintenance is essential for the proper operation of your firearm.  No one wants a mis-feed (or worse) when you need proper function the most.  Semi-automatic firearms tend to be more sensitive to a lack of cleaning and maintenance, especially the .22 caliber semi-automatic pistols and rifles.

.22 caliber leaves more residue in a gun than other higher calibers so they require more regular maintenance and attention for proper function.  Since .22 ammunition is much less expensive than the others, we also tend to put many rounds more through our .22 caliber semi-automatics than we might with other more expensive cartridges.  Again, this means more sticky grit that can foul semi-automatic mechanisms.

Hey guys! I thought I would share my experience with the Concealed Carry Permit process in case you want to further inform future classes.
I applied online with the state Department of Safety and Homeland Security, filling out an application and answering several questions and received a Registration number to be used for the Gun Safety Class.
The Gun Safety Class, with Sandra, was very good, by the way, and I not only learned about gun safety but how to clean and properly grip my firearm. I was amazed at how well I shot for the qualification test .
My next step was to drive to Strawberry Plains to the Drivers License Services building and again fill out a registration form for the state and present my birth certificate and ID.
You may read online that you can get inline by setting up an account to issue you a number to hold your place in the line but I found that they don’t use this process for CCP applicants. Stand in line and see the information officer. I paid my fees and then, online, set up an appointment to be fingerprinted. This was the easiest part of the process. I hope this helps answer some of the unknowns. Strawberry Plains seems to be the ONLY Driver License Service Center to deal with CCP daily. Thanks again for all of the training!
